The things I can do to contribute to saving the polar bears several thousand miles away:
Five: only print when I have to, do it double sided. Encourage my colleagues to do the same.
Four: completely utilise the recycling scheme at work and make sure all my paper, plastics, bottles, and metals are put in the right bin.
Three: buy locally grown produce and only buy what I need (this means smaller shops several times a week) so I reduce waste.
Two: don’t buy so much stuff. If I need stuff I tend to look for it second hand , I fix stuff that breaks instead of replacing it, the stuff I do buy is kiwimade :)
One: Walk. I’m giving up my car park as it is only convenient for me to have it. I have a bus stop in my street which gets me to the office within 30 minutes. I will reduce my fuel costs, extend the life of my car and get loads more fresh air.
If you ever doubt why we need to do anything, please watch David Attenborough’s Planet Earth. It is fascinating. Life changing. He TOTALLY wins a spot at the table for my fantasty dinner party.
