The Cook Straight ferries have been cancelled due to monstrous swells, as have some flights out of the airport. It’s a blustery wintery gale out there! As the rain batters the windows, George has puffed himself up to keep warm, while he’s keeping an eye on the garden. The fire is on, the papers spread out over the bench, Miles is on radio active. I have plans for a carrot cake, and there is a stack of dvds to get through. Maybe Shepard’s Pie for dinner?
This time yesterday we were standing on the beach at Pencarrow Head, enjoying ice creams in the winter sun.
Who’d want to live anywhere else?

Well I’m happy enough in the jungles of the Congo, although I dare say the howling wind and rain of a New Zealand winter has its attractions as well.
