Today is random acts of kindness day. Sometimes the most generous expressions of the heart are in the form of gifts that don’t cost much at all. What I love best about giving, is the thoughtfulness; taking the time to know a person and trying to find a piece that matches it.
The official site has a sound list of ideas for showing relative strangers compassion. We can be an odd lot, here in NZ, and likely to meet benevolence with a touch of suspicion. So perhaps take the opportunity to give to those you know. Here are a few things I have either given or received over the years in case you need a few ideas: *a postcard of bright red pohutuwaka blossoms when I was feeling very homesick *a favourite book, signed by the author, tracked down on eBay *the offer of a lift home after a long, stinky day at work *a beautiful pen that fits in my wallet (perfect for crosswords, signing very important documents) *an iPod playlist of favourite songs for a road trip *my own tennis racket (the gift that keeps on giving as I win repeatedly ;) *a bouquet of flowers after a day of sadness.
This is my simple religion. There is no need for temples; no need for complicated philosophy. Our own brain, our own heart is our temple; the philosophy is kindness ~ Dalai Lama

Hey Sas. I’m Dustyn. I like your blog. I wish we all did more simple and nice things for each other, and like the Dalai Lama, I wish that religion were about kindness and consciousness. Check out my new blog sometime.Sincerely,Dustyn
