Last night Pip and I went to a balloon party at Penny’s house. This was my first balloon party and it was very interesting. Penny made lovely platters and a plate stacked with the most divine fudge slice (the slice really is under-rated don’t you think?). A lady arrived with several suitcases full of balloons and other balloon accessories and other things you can use with balloons. They came in pretty shapes and colors and and did a lot of different things. One balloon had pearls in it, another had ball bearings. Some of the balloons had attachments, some reminded me of fairground rides at the A&P Show, some were in the shape of animals which I found quite disconcerting. Most of the balloons came with batteries, but a couple of them did not. To be honest, I found the balloons with no batteries a little drab (did I mention Penny had fresh strawberries?).
One balloon looked like lipstick and the Balloon Lady suggested keeping that one for emergencies, in your purse. There were a lot of flavourful things you could put on the balloons, or wherever you wanted. More likely in other places, and then someone else could get involved. In fact, there were loads of many useful suggestions about how to share the balloons (except for at traffic lights — that is best handled with the lipstick balloon, she said, and typically done alone).
After the main balloon presentation, I bought some balloons in the private purchasing room (it’s rude to go to these things and leave empty-handed, my mother taught me better). Someone bought the ‘MacDaddy Balloon’. This was the most impressive balloon of the night, and I do think that balloon could take out the rubbish and mow the lawns.
All in all, I think it went rather well.

Take care of the contact points for batteries in your balloon: if these get bent or distorted somehow, the batteries will no longer give your balloon its signature loftiness. Also, if your balloon has a string attached rather than being a balloon you simply hold on to, take care that the string does not get bent or twisted unduly. This can cause the balloon to lose its loft as well.
Excellent advice. I do appreciate it.
