shopping porn

Today was all about the Westfield Shopping Centre in Shepherd’s Bush. Fun facts: its slightly better than Westfield Lower Hutt, is the largest urban shopping mall in Europe, covers 43 acres, has 265 shops, 40 places to eat plus two supermarkets, a gym, a spa, a library and a 14 screen cinema (opening in March) plus 4500 parking spaces. I am not a massive shopper but I have to admit this place is quite beautifully designed, it feels light and airy and is very easy to get about. All of the stores are brand new and so everything is sparkly and shiny. And on a random damp Wednesday in the middle of a recession, there were thousands of people there.

There is a massive Foyles which I do plan on returning to for a good explore.

I have not yet had the pleasure of the Uxbridge Road in West Ealing. I can say that the weird and wonderful collection of retailers around SheBu Green are really struggling with the new Westfield. There are still 86 options for me to buy a phone card or get my mobile ‘unlocked’. Me thinks they need to sort out their marketing strategy’s…
