‘LONDON IN LOCK DOWN!’ is the headline of the Evening Standard tonight. It’s all a bit unknown really. According to the tabloids the entire city will be under threat as banks board up their windows in order to withstand the full force of macrame weilding hippies protesting against climate change. Also the Anti-war coalition, Trade Unions and others will be there. Oh and the anti-capitalists and general anarchists. They are all headed by ‘Four Horsefolk of the Apocalypse’ which will converge in front of the Bank of England tomorrow.
Police are expecting thousands and thousands of protestors. Perhaps after so much confusion and technically complex explanations of why we are in this big Moneygeddon, Ecopocolypse mess, people finally have a tangible thing they can relate and voice their anger and frustration?
The papers are going nuts with it all. The coolest thing is that this is a 2.0 rally. There is a facebook group. And you can follow it all on Twitter (plus general G20 chatter on Twitter can be found by searching for #G20 or #G20rally). It will be just like being there!

and of course the anti-globalisation crew will be there in force as well.”…big Moneygeddon, Ecopocolypse mess…” very clever. Good luck and stay out of any melee.
Sadly due to pants meeting from 1-3 I am unable to attend otherwise I would be right there. And Donali – the protest is likely to be 95% completely peaceful (there is a real carnival atmosphere!). Unfortunately the press will concentrate on the tiny 5% that may get out of hand…This is what democracy is all about after all.
A bad day to go shopping, I suppose.I don’t understand what people think they can accomplish by vandalizing and destroying things. I only makes me less sympathetic, even loathe, their causes. They might as well be terrorists. You don’t change people’s minds by throwing tantrums like a toddler; at least it’s never changed my mind.
