good things happen in slough. yes they do.

We are no longer a one income family!

The rather clever and fabulous Science Guy has scored himself a contract until Christmas. And so this means we can let the adventure really begin.

We can make lovely summer travelly trip plans. We want to go back to the Cotswold’s and Bath and Cornwall and the Lake District. And maybe venture further afield to the places in Europe we loved and the ones didn’t manage to get to before. And we are planning to lease a car so SG can get to his work, up the M4. In Slough. Yes, really.

The best news of all though, is our plan to move to a bigger place and ship over all of our belongings. I am now pouring over lovely homey websites and blogs for inspiration. I SO miss my books and furniture, art and cushions and rugs. And so now I am fantasising about everything arriving here in about three months time, seamlessly co-ordinated (of course) with the signing of a lease on our new home and the 2-3 week late summer holiday I have planned before my next contract starts.

So I am sending this out into the universe as a request. Because this approach is working just fine for me. And for this, I am so grateful.

Yes, Mr London St. Of course, the only thing I know about Slough is frm “The Office”, but I’ve had to swallow my prejudices, and TV based version of reality. Having said that, it still is an industrial estate, but meets an immediate need, that of being gainfully employed, and paid pounds sterling, rather than bleeding NZ$ with every breath

That’s great news – having money certainly helps. I’ll cross my fingers for you that the universe co-operates with your plans.

    hi sas,
is this a picture of your home or one you are looking at and dreaming of your own things being shipped soon? it is a gorgeous room.

was thinking of you last week. remember my review of revolutionary road? you cruised over and read my open letter to doris lessing afterward? well the kiwi boy, paul, found me through my blog. i am not kidding.

it has been twenty years since we last talked. it blew my mind and sent me reeling. he emailed me. i responded with a nice email letting him know what i had been up to and asked that he let me know the latest on his end. my phone number is in my signature of emails. he called!!!! i thought i would die. he said many things. one was that i was a great love in his life. he remembered things about our relationship i had forgotten.

sas, we did have a good relationship for awhile. we were just headed in such different directions.

anyway, i have been dating a local underground legend, a musician. after the call from paul, i broke up with him. typical behavior for me. i have a problem with commitment is what i think and paul’s call just amplified it. got scared and so told musician guy it was over.

the musician guy and i are seeing each other as “friends” who sometimes have sleep overs now.:) what a drag sas. i was so happy until paul called. he brought up so many repressed and painful memories. paul and i did have a good relationship until i went to london and everything changed. want to finish university, etc.

anyway, he is filthy rich. sent me some photos of his home, one was of his bedroom. he said his home is in magazines. he told me he never loved erica, the woman he got pregnant shortly after i left new zealand. i told him he had two gorgeou daughters and that i had followed a course of searching, adventures i would not trade for the world, and work that is hopefully making the world a better place.

sorry this post is so long, but wanted to share seeing how you are from nz and you read about all that part of my life.

Slough? Slough? I’m sorry to hear that. I live down the road in Reading and they teach us to hate Slough at school.

The Cotswolds are lovely – so many pretty towns, great shops and lovely restaurants!

Mary – so lovely to hear from you.

I totally understand the scary feeling. But the Musician sounds lovely – don’t be afraid of letting him in.

It must have been a shock hearing from Paul. But don’t let him send you into a tailspin – everything you know about him is true. And you made your choices for the right reasons. You have to trust yourself and your own judgement.

You are doing just fine :)

#167 Dad you are so right! I actually worry about them all packed up in their boxes, in a storage unit back home. I can’t wait to be reunited with them…
