This scent wafts around me all day.
It’s roses blooming in a summer garden.
And cold white wine on a roof terrace, bare arms, peep toe sandals.
It’s the smell of hot London streets bathed in the sun.
And stopping for gelato at midnight before walking home.
It’s deep, slow kisses.
And turning over pillows to the cold side and sleeping naked covered by just the sheet.

I adore Penhaligons and plan to wear their violet perfume when I’m old and grey with all its powdery loveliness. In the meantime, I wear Jo Malone’s Red Roses which is wonderful – the bath oil is equally heavenly.
I’m also keen to check out the Miller Harris scents and I adore the Tocca Stella candle which fills the room with the scent of blood oranges. I believe they also do one which tinges the air with the scent of tomatoes growing on the vine on a warm windowsill …
I don’t think we have anything quite that delicious in the States. Adding to list of reasons to go to UK….
I have one of the Miller Harris scents but most of them don’t do much for me. I can recommend Editions de Parfum Frederic Malle though. And the Cire Trudon candles are absolutely amazing – I have one which smells of moss and is incredible.
Sas – if smell is important to you I recommend Les Senteurs on Elizabeth Street in Belgravia. It’s a marvellous shop with loads of fantastic fragrances that are really hard to get hold of anywhere else.
I used to wear English Fern. Penhaligons is proper old school stuff.
Oh yes I absolutely adore Jo Malone’s candles. I must go and check the London store out.
