'ginger nymph causes lust fuelled rioting in streets of alabama'

(the vintage 1895 advertising poster for Gladiator Cycles that incites lust and General Badness)

So, here is further evidence to prove my theories about Gingerism: a wine label showing a naked red-headed nymph has led to a state-wide sales ban of the wine. Alabama’s liquor regulations prohibit labels with ‘a person posed in an immoral or sensuous manner’. And so the god fearin’ folks at Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board are calling for the introduction of strict new guidelines, that could lead to all persons that invoke lust, being taken out and shot. Or something.

I can assure you dear reader, that all Californian wine I have let pass my lips, has been without question, average to crap. They could have just left it to the sales figures to ensure this vintage and it’s horny little label faded into obscurity. But no, the image of a naked ginger nymphy cyclist, has come to haunt the collective mind’s eye of the Alabama Beverage Control Board. The poor darlings have got their knickers in a bit of a state, as they seem to think advertising provides a window of insight into Real Life.

Which means women are in fact, carefree sex kittens. Well, when they aren’t having a blue liquid period.

And clearly, century-old cartoons are wanton lust filled objects of desire, that will turn the head of any innocent family man.

Lust is to the other passions what the nervous fluid is to life; it supports them all, lends strength to them all ambition, cruelty, avarice, revenge, are all founded on lust ~ Marquis de Sade

I have never tasted ginger wine but I can’t believe you are so hateful to California wines. I am from Texas and even I like them.

As a redhead myself I find this type of discrimination deplorable.

As an auburn person (having endured ginger throughout my formative years, I shudder at the term), I would appreciate a brief moment of carefree sex kitten type stuff. Even if I did have to ride a bike without my M and S coverings.

This wine has been around forever and they are just now getting around to banning it? Pity they aren’t banning it for being plonk.

Sas! Such pictures on the Internet of all places! :)

Honestly, red headed or strawberry blonde women are the most lust inspiring to me, I think.
So, I will never move to Alabama thanks to your post.

As a ginger girl, I feel this accurately represents my favourite pastime: riding a winged bike naked through the night sky. Surely Alabama ginger ladies do the same? Perhaps not. And I suppose we wouldn’t want to give them any ideas… Particularly if it involves average-tasting wine.

To quote a delightfully ginger-haired buddy of mine: ‘Brunettes for attraction, but red-heads for action’. Hasnt there always been a certain fascination with red haired women in the arts? All that Titian business etc, seen as something of a siren. As a black haired lass have always been rather envious…

I feel they should be required to prove that there is a connection between pictures of naked, attractive young women and feelings of lust.
