extension

I should be writing my essay. Or perhaps expanding my profile page on Mondo Beyondo. I have an outstanding Skype date with a beloved friend. I haven’t done any businessy filing for weeks. I need to send an invoice. There are tax things here and back in NZ that require my attention but I just cannot face. I have to pay two parking tickets. I have a pile of blogs to catch up on. Websites I would like to read. The folder in front of me contains 150 pages of academic readings that I need to digest, highlight potential quotes, make intelligent connections amongst. Pay my University fees for this paper. Email my brother re: the father visit. Email my professor to request an extension on this essay. I have read less than 50 pages of my book in the last four weeks. I need to write down what I ate today. Pack my gym bag for tomorrow. Have an early night. Clean the bathroom. There are pictures I need to pick up from the framer. Make the bed in the spare room. Buy flowers. Look into exchanging the lease car for something smaller. Investigate buying a car. Email the house painter back home so #54 has the springtime spruce-up. Deal to whatever the hell it was that just flew in and is bouncing off the light shade.

I’m going downstairs to sit with Science Guy on the sofa, a cup of tea and just breath in and out.

Times like these we need a nap.

My new favourite saying is, ‘It takes a long runway to get anything significant up in the air.’ It makes me feel better about not always being somewhere, reminds me that it’s good enough to be enroute.

What sort of flowers are you buying?

Bravo. I’ve been stressing over my 15-page-long to-do list, so I really love that poster.

For osme reason it reminds me of one of my favourite cartoons, of somebody falling out of bed in the morning, and on the wall the sign says “First trousers, then shoes”.

My list of things to do is similarly long, but the most important one for each day is: Get Dressed. Yesterday I managed that by 10am. Result! :D
