friday five: god’s fireworks* are awesome

*A nebula is a cloud of gas and dust in space. Some nebulas are regions where new stars are being formed, while others are the remains of dead or dying stars. There are four main types: planetary, reflection, emission, and absorption nebulas. They are stunning.

My daughter just studied these at school. She was so taken by them that we’re having a rendition of one painted on her bedroom ceiling. It’s REALLY cool looking so far…
    I think I’m secretly jealous!

The only dying stars I’m interested in are Vernon Kay and Tess Daly in a pile-up.

@MLS if we can arrange for the Kay-Daly clan to have a head-on with Moyles, I’m in.

I’ve been a fan of Astronomy Picture of the Day for years. I think the horsehead nebula is fab. Thanks for the reminder, I’ll head over there today to see what spiral galaxy they are featuring today.
