feminine dynamic

Back in September, cup of tea in hand, on a plush orange velvet sofa, with a view of Lake Windermere, I opened my fresh copy of Style Statement. This is personal branding on acid (and mercifully free of the wank factor). It’s about distilling your personality, character, the best and aspirational bits of yourself and coming up with two profoundly descriptive words that capture your essence. This statement ‘fully expresses your soul’ encompassing every decision you make and helps you understand why, but it can also be used to remind yourself of what it is you need to feed that soul of yours.

This afternoon, I finally completed that little journey of self discovery to uncover my definition. I had no real idea of where this would take me, and the end result has still surprised me. My Style Statement is Feminine Dynamic. And it feels so me! Using an 80/20 principle, Feminine is my foundation, my essence, the fundamental bit of me; my archetype. This is at the core of me and rules the majority of my decisions. Dynamic is my creative edge: the 20% of me that describes how I express myself, how I do what I do.

As I let this description filter through the aspects of my life, it feels very empowering: a barometer to measure against. I thoroughly recommend a meander through the book – especially at the beginning of the year when it feels like an apt time to be contemplating ones navel. And do let me know what your words are.

‘Feminine is a force to be reckoned with – sheer woman-power. They are nurturing, inclusive, and intrinsically and actively compassionate. Midwives and caretakers of ideas and community, Feminine is often sought out for guidance, inspiration, and comfort. In full bloom, she has a great sense of adventure, as well as a healthy balance of responsibility. Feminine regularly exercises her prerogative to change her mind, start over, or wait it out. Sometimes Feminine can struggle with excessive or repressed emotion, thereby denying herself and those around her the full richness of her significant power. Feminine’s holistic, often metaphysical perspective on life honours spirituality as the key to fulfilment. By far, Feminine’s greatest gift is her intuition. Her ability to sense the truth of what’s happening or what is to come is an incredibly effective tool for creating desirable realities.

Dynamic: changeable, change agent, charismatic, charming, compelling, effective, energetic, energizing, forceful, go-getting, high powered, influential, intense, intuitive, lively, lusty, magnetic, play for keeps, play hardball, potent, powerful, productive, progressive, red-blooded, stroppy, twisty, vehement, vigorous, vital.

It’s a terrible title for a terrific book. I recommend it to almost everyone, knowing the ones who would roll their eyes at the suggestion. From a Sacred/Aware, and let me tell you, that aware part sucks bigtime – so much easier to not be aware, to not really hear what our politicians are saying/doing, as an example – but aware had no competition, and I knew it anyway, always keeping my mouth closed when I wanted to say WTF???

    Love that image! :)

Love your style statement. Thanks for visiting my blog! I love the photo. I think I’ve stood naked in heels in my bathroom before. Before I had kids and before people started randomly walking into my house. Not so much anymore…lol.

Oh god that is gay. Why do we seek to lable and define ourselves? I cringed at the term “
Personal Branding” but to put it on acid and then claim the absence of wank? I’m no paragon of human achievement but I’m happy. And I manage to be this way without even partially expressing my soul. Without a catchphrase to guide choices in life. My choices in life are guided by what will and what won’t make it more poo. With a touch of regard for how my decisions effect thee pooness of other peoples lives. So hows that for a Style statement. Poo Guardian :) Sas, I love that we are such polar expressions of humanity, and that we manage to get along anyway :)

I love Style Statements! I found out about this in Domino several years ago before the book and was smitten. At the time, without truly knowing all the “formulas”, I devised my own style statement: Romantic Bohemian. It felt right. And it felt so me. And so I haven’t wanted to actually go through the book and do it the right way, since I felt I found the right thing without that. And, as you can guess, my style statement helped me pick a blog name! I also love following their blog. It’s got great stuff.

Thanks for the link! I’ll go there. I’ve always got a compulsion to see where I fit into the scheme of things. But nobody can beat “Feminine Dynamic,” can they? Love the picture of Simone up there…
