After a really loooong day, I was looking forward to an evening of relaxing, but poor Science Guy has to work late and is all rainy and shite in London tonight. And so I have been to the super marche and obtained the ingredients for gourmet kiwi burgers. And chocolate chip pancakes. With chocolate sauce. For I am the awesomest live-in lover, and today is Shrove Tuesday.
‘Shrove’ is a past tense of the English verb ‘shrive’ which means to ‘obtain absolution for one’s sins by confessing and doing penance’. Shrove Tuesday gets its name from the shriving (confessing) that English Christians were expected to do prior to receiving absolution immediately before Lent began.
So today, may your pancakes be light, fluffy and sweet. For tomorrow it’s the turn of the fun police…

Damn, I didn’t know it, tried to cook pikelets for the Belgian kidlets, ended up all fiery and fierce over the dishes. I think I undid any good and sinned again … pretty much immediately.
Commencing ‘Shrove Wednesday’ pancake gluttony under the pretence that it’s still Tuesday in heaps of the world…
May your pancakes be drenched in lashings of butter and maple syrupy goodness.
Yummmy pancakes!!
Happy Shrove Day!
