friday five: the glue society

The Glue Society are a Sydney based creative collective. They are behind some very awesome arty offerings: God’s Eye View (Cross, Moses, Ark, Eden). From Creative Review: ‘We like to disorientate audiences a little with all our work. And with this piece we felt technology now allows events which may or may not have happened to be visualized and made to appear dramatically real,’ say The Glue Society’s James Dive. ‘As a method of representation satellite photography is so trusted, it has been interesting to mess with that trust.’

Also shown below is I Heard They Were Dirty (nsfw). If anyone has ever had a little ‘incident’ with a pigeon, you will appreciate the sentiment.

oh those are amazing. love the idea of messing with photos – it’s often too easy isn’t it to just believe something we are shown… makes me think!

:) Anyone who’s seen the film Top Secret! will recognise the pigeon one: in the scene in the park there’s a giant statue of a pigeon… well, you get the idea.

I have to walk under railway arches on my way home from the tube station. I can hear them cooing up in the steel rafters. I swear they aim for me.
