Things I am fearful of:
- Being insignificant.
- Spiders.
- Not reaching my potential.
- Feeling/looking/being fat on my wedding day.
- Staying safe.
- Birds.
- Vomiting in public (nb: I have done this in a full English lecture. It’s as awful as you think).
- Feeling like an imposter.
- Not finishing things.
- Hurting Science Guy.
- Failing at something I love.
- Getting pregnant.
- Clowns.
- Losing my enthusiasm for life.
- Letting down a member of my Tribe.
- Dying before I have done everything.
- Not doing something because of fear.
- That this is all there is.

so raw. so brave. so inspiring. i adore you. (mind if i use this idea for one of my lists further down the road? though my contents would actually be very similar to yours). xo
sas Replied:

i didn’t think that i could love you any more than i already did…

MWAH right back at you.
Oh My. Except for the spiders and birds thing (I really like them), and being too old to get pregnant and weddings being a thing of the past, this could be my list. I really resonate with the last five.
sas Replied:
isn’t is weird how universal our fears are?!
it makes me feel a little braver.
(just a little :)
Thank you for your comment on Bindu’s website today. You’re so right. We expect a flawed existence and yet, when I reflect, it’s the fact that I’ve been so afraid that makes life so valuable and beautiful. Anonymous lady ;-)

Oh hello! how wonderful to meet.
I am in awe of your bravery and courage – who the fuck wouldn’t be afraid after what you have been through?
Frankly, it would be weird if you weren’t a little scared!
:)
I am afraid that I will never get to met you. Fact.
sas Replied:
dude, that’s gonna happen.
I fear: that my blog/internet self is much more interesting than my real self.
sas Replied:
SAME!
When we bought the car yesterday, we both had a geek-out moment of ‘what if the car is the coolest thing about us’?
I feel a little bit like that about this blog. But I hope I am the same in ‘real life’ as I am here. Lets meet up in Welly next year and compare notes ;)

You are even better in real life :) xx
My biggest fear is that you will stop wanting to be my friend.
Seriously.
You are so f-ing amazing.

wee sis – right back atchya!
wonderful list. I too, have upchucked in public – food poisoning at a different restaurant than I aquired the food poisoining from while trying to make a new friend. not a good time. she and I never became friends. :)
sas Replied:
god it’s awful isn’t it?
what a shit friend. better off without her.
Goodness, I share more than a couple of those! Isn’t it a wonderful to say these out loud as it were and to hear everyone say that you/ we are not alone in our fears? xx
sas Replied:
Absolutely! It makes me feel ‘normal’. And a bit like we’re all in this together, may as well just try to get on with it. xxx
3, 8 and 11, I can totally relate to. Although I am certain that just being me will be enough and that I can make a success of my business off the back of it, I do still fear that somehow everyone will be like ‘Um, yeah, er, so what Genna, you ain’t all that’ it kinda frightens the bejeebus outta me sometimes. But then I think, well who the hell are you gonna be? What are the alternatives? Then I give myself a stern talking to, a swift bum kick and try to forget the fear, or at least quieten it a little. Tis like Seth Godin says, it’s just the Lizard Brain [or Senga in my case] trying to prevent us from doing something risky. We have the choice to tell it to shut the hell up, we should make that choice.
Oh and I would quite like to meet you, you sound like a kick ass gal and we share a city after all xx
sas Replied:
Lizard Brian – what a great expression! That Seth, he knows things.
Would love to meet up – DM me :)
oh! OH! i am so in f-in’ awe, honey. you’ve inspired me. i thought i needed to do an in-depth analysis of my fears, so i haven’t even touched that prompt. but you’ve shown me another way. just NAME them. damn. you are so brilliant.
i’m following suit. today. (from the salon chair).
love you zillions.
xxxx
sas Replied:
i tried writing an in-depth analysis, i really did. and then i binned it in favour of a list xxx
You are amazing – and I can vouch for the fact that you are EVEN more amazing in real life! – I adore you and I am so inspired by and proud of you. And interestingly, you have become my inspiration for being what I see as fearless.
mwah!!!
sas Replied:
There is a reason you are Mighty Megg you know ;)
xxx
you are awesome and as significant as hell
i nodded furiously while reading this but have never worried about chundering in public
until now
sas Replied:
Are you the same Jane from OGHS? Cos it is pretty freakin awesome to hear from you :)
And yeah – Public Upchucks are not pretty.
My biggest fear is something happening to my daughter. I wish I could keep her safe for always. No matter what. Always safe, always loved.
Just discovered your blog through Jeanine’s.
Love this list!!!
