It has been several weeks of horribleness dominated by continued attempts of Real Estate Agents to rent us an over-priced cupboard miles from a tube stop. Last week I looked at a place on the High Road. And the kitchen was a bit shit, as was the bathroom. And the entrance was in an alley, probably frequented by rapists, behind some bins that the fruit and vege man dumped his unsold rotting wares in. But the rooms were huge. And it was CHEAP. And signing it up would mean The Search would be over. Science Guy spent less than 5 minutes there before declaring it ‘The Ghetto’ and shaking his head as if I had lost my mind. We spent the evening stressing about how crappy this situation was and what we might be forced to take if we couldn’t find anywhere decent. Because we want to down-size but to somewhere awesome you know?
And then on Friday I found the Holy Grail. A real estate agent with a sense of humour. And a uterus. Who was capable of LISTENING. And the first place she took me to (in her awesome Fiat 500) was brilliant. A little two bedroom house, with a garden and a new kitchen and enormous bathroom and built-in wardrobes. And less than 10 minutes walk to the tube. And it’s awesome. It has fireplaces. And stripped wooden floors. And its just been painted. And they are putting in new carpet in a couple of weeks. And its £500 a month cheaper than Current House. So I signed it up on the spot. Saturday morning we both went back to have a look and PHEW! the wedding is still on because he loved it too.
So begins Project Wee House. We are taking our oak dining table, our bed, and the Aspelund from IKEA (because we are never selling it after the fucking trauma we went through to get the fucking thing. Fucking IKEA). My mission this week is to establish ‘Sas n Ash’s Crazy Bargain Furniture Emporium’ on eBay, Freecycle, and Gum Tree to sell/give away about half of our stuff. We have a few items in mind that we’ll get to fit in the spaces, as we don’t plan on moving from here until we buy. It’s exciting; making decisions together and in many ways, it feels like this is our first house.
In other downsizing news: I had to buy new jeans because the size 18s I had to buy last year due to General Arse Expansion are baggy and worn. Woo hoo I’m back in the 16s! And this week saw me shed another 0.6kg/1.5 pounds. So I’ve now lost 7.6kg/17 pounds in total and seven and a half centimetres from my body. I am just over 24% of the way to my goal (I have turned into a statistical spastic with heartfelt thanks to Shauna and her Spreadsheet of Organisation). I am also recording everything I eat and every bit of exercise. It may sound very dull and restrictive, but I think I need the boundaries and rules right now. I feel like if I don’t measure everything, it will all scatter out of control. I still can’t really tell that I have lost any weight (when I critically appraise my naked self), and while 25% is great, that means 75% is still to go. I am scared of getting complacent and cocky. Of settling.
I am scared that I won’t finish this.

Sounds like everything is on track for you – best of luck on your journey.
Send some of your goodness my way??
Sxo
I hope the garden includes a shrubbery with a nice little path running through the middle of it? Sounds great.
Sas, you are doing brilliantly my darlin! The new wee house project sounds great and donwsizing is more fun than they ever tell you [I loved clearing out and downsizing] As for the weight loss, just keep at it, be consistant and tracking your food and exercise is the number 1 proven thing to aid weight loss. Take it a day at a time and before you know it you will be 100% of the way there. I have gone through a lull in my weight loss [still wanna lose 28lbs] but this is primarily down to being out of my routine, as of next week, I’ll be back on track and cheering you on too!!!
BIG LOVE
Genna xx
