Last night I saw the Angel of the North. On a freezing night, I escaped the industrial wasteland of Gateshead, with a couple of work buddies for a bit of Northern culture. Gormley’s structure is truly gigantic. And more than a little bit freaky. I found it difficult to look into its face; as though it might make eye contact or something.
So this weeks friday five is in homage: the first three images are from Japanese artist Shuichi Nakano’s ‘Searching for Paradise‘.
The last two are not.

I liked those pictures. There is something that grabs my eye and makes me wonder/think about them. And isn’t that just how art is supposed to work.
