Image: offices of Invensys Rail who manage the comms and tech for most of the UK Rail Network. They have an ACTUAL TRAIN in their Grosvenor Square offices. I want to be the first woman on their board.
Today I want to hang up my cashmere coat in my office and stare at the London skyline. From two windows.
I want to hold a kick-off stand-up bring-your-coffee-and-your-energy team meeting with everyone. And say thank you.
I want to be so busy and excited about the contents of my to-do list that I have to ask someone to pick up some sushi for me. Which I will eat later.
I want to spend an hour or two dreaming and scheming with smart people, filled with confidence and possibility. I want to be pushed around intellectually.
I want the deep belly laughs that come from the banter between a group of random strangers that work together and call each other friends.
I want to be wowed by wi-fi everywhere, glass and chrome, a workspace filled with natural light (oh how I miss you) and inoffensive decor. Perhaps a piece of sculpture or two?
And the sexiest coffee machine in the known universe. With a hot italian barristar to make the magic.
I want to know that I am contributing to something that matters. And that makes money.
I want to get things done.

This is what BBC Worldwide was like when I got there. Sadly, not when I left (also: part of why I left)
Certainly the environment in the media center is like that, and the new digs up in manchester ( I think) look lovely.
I’m sure you can do this and find this place – it’s not easy, but it can be done. And if anyone can, you can :)

Yep i am very very hopeful that next job will be this or have this potential. I get the idea of ‘being the change’ in an office environment. Its mah temple!
