how to organise a fancy wedding in your pyjamas

Early on I made a rookie error and bought a Bridal Magazine. After that trauma we decided to ignore the ‘Wedding Industry’ as the planning of ones special day should ideally not result in blood-shed. We made a list of everything, divided up the tasks and had semi-regular progress discussions. I will always be eternally grateful to Science Guy for dealing with the bureaucratic abomination that was two separate local English Councils (Ealing where we live and Maidenhead & Windsor where we got hitched); a process that at times felt like the plot of Falling Down 2: What the Fuck Is the Name of the Form You Need NOW?’

A special thank you also has to go out to Time Berners-Lee who invented the Interwebs which meant we did not have to step into one real-live-literal shop. There was no snitty middle-aged woman judging my choices of ‘no veil’ and ‘not ivory’. There was just tried and tested online favourites and the universally fabulous and creative peeps from Folksy & Etsy, without whom the whole process would have been way less awesome.

Check ‘em out:

Frock: This was the only dress I saw that made my belly flip. I took a punt on the sizing and bought unsupervised - Ellana Couture you are a genius!

Frock finishing: Busting Diva (Christina brought puss-treats for Rex & Badger to thank them for ‘helping’).

Sandals: Boden.

Bag: Black Gypsy Designs.

Hair & Make-up: Sarah-Kate Thorne (hilarious, talented, totally relaxed).

Silk flower for my hair: Alaparisienne.

Earrings: a gift from the Californian Mungbean from Adesso.

Bracelet: A Wing and a Prayer (couldn’t resist!) from Elsie Belle.

Pin for the back of my dress: ZitaJohann.

Ash’s Country Gentleman Suit: Bookster (found online but required an in-person measure-up. Which required the spending of the night in a hotel nearby).

Flowers: Sonning Flowers who we found online before a visit to their fantastic barn-cum-floristry.

Table place-cards: Crafty Pagan Designs.

The Cake deserves its own post!

I’m afraid I did spend thankfully short time with a snitty middle aged woman judging my choice and, like you, found the designer online and bought one of her ready to wear numbers. I also found the invitations online, although it took hours of trawling through twee shite. I had no idea what I wanted but got exactly what I wanted, delivered in two days.
