scattered

Home.

Back to something of a routine. Normality. The future. I ironed work clothes this afternoon. Not all items were mine. This made me feel like my Gran.

The wedding is memories, we’ve used up most of our annual leave and a review of the Joint Budget suggests the best thing from now until Christmas is to hunker down a little. We have a year or two of saving ahead of us if we want to buy a house here. I have reverted to ‘winning the lottery’ as my plan for dealing with post-nuptual malaise; for this would allow the purchase of my favourite house on the Thames Path (once owned by Nancy Mitford ‘Dear Rose Cottage, I’ve never liked a house more – I often think of it and the reflection of the river on my bedroom ceiling’). And if the win was EuroMillions then the subsequent €100m leftover would allow for a little house by the sea (Carbis Bay anyone?).

Yeah. Right.

Mostly I miss the sea; the sleeping deeply for many hours, a lazy breakfast, exploring new villages, staring at the waves, avoiding mercenary seagulls. I miss the sting of sunburn in the shower and the scent of aftersun cream. Birkenstocks. Sand in the bed.

The not-rain.

I’m a bit scattered.

I remember that feeling. I returned from my honeymoon with a nasty case of Delhi belly and then knocked rehydration solution all over my laptop thus effectively ‘nuking’ the whole thing (not insured). I was miserable.
One thing I did do was save some unwrapping of presents for the post-honeymoon. This did salve my woes a little :D
    Miss you loads xxx
