‘when there is nothing but tenderness and pleasure’*

This is what I am looking at right now. I can’t take my eyes off the waves. I have a cold glass of a Margaret River Sauvignon Semillon, Miles Davis and a stack of papers for company. We are honeymooning. My very awesome husband found us a cottage right on Porthmeor Beach; there is nothing to do but sleep, read, explore, eat, drink. I am planning an early morning swim in the ocean. I am also planning to not spend any time being haunted by two accusatory, furry faces with wide, sad eyes behind the chicken wire of the cattery cage (which is essentially a spa for cats – they get daily brushing, pats and have heated bedrooms ffs).

Maybe its the weeks off work, hanging out with my new family and dearest friends; it has a lot to do with this deep, knowing, happy love and the celebration of what this means to us; but there is a lot of joy in my little life right now. It feels quite sacred. And instead of waiting for it to end or worrying what could go wrong, I am just soaking it up, grateful for every drop. Because in the end love wins, right?

And this is my 1000th post: this blog now contains one thousand vignettes of a life that is truly magical and a mystery to me, still.

Thank you for reading along and for sharing the last-nearly-four-years – it means everything to have you on the bus :)

It feels like I’ve known you so much longer than that.

So happy and grateful to have you (& your HUSBAND & the fur babies) in my life.

Was reticent about saying this as not sure whether you know this (and I think I’m right about it) but just in case you don’t, the origin of the word ‘honeymoon’ is that newlyweds would drink honey mead every day for a lunar month after their nuptials. Sounds like in your own way you’re drinking it, soaking up every drop and quite right too.
